Tea Time Tuesday

May~ A month of celebrations.  It arrives at my house on the wings of birdsong and is filled with delight all month long!

Hello all my wonderful tea friends and welcome to another Tea Time Tuesday!

Did you all have a nice weekend? The spring peepers have begun to sing their chorus behind our home and I saw our first gold finch of the season.

The month of May fills me with such delight! It is the promise of sun kissed flowers and fresh green buds  adorning the trees. Then soon, very soon, the trees will be resplendent, dressed in their lacey green tresses. I can almost hear the tinkle of fairy laughter in the air!

The birds are busy at the birdfeeders and our resident chickadees have been chasing the sparrows all weekend. It was all rather comical to watch because my little masked feathered friends think they own the birdfeeder!  They had possession of it all Winter, you see!

"Spring had come once more...lingering along through April and May in a succession of sweet, fresh, chilly days, with pink sunsets and miracles of resurrection and growth." ~ L M Montgomery - 'Anne of Green Gables'

May always brings a smile to my face. It's a month of celebrations at our house because we celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, and Mother's Day. May and June have long been my favourite months of the year which is why we chose the month of May to get married. So did my middle son and his wife! My hubby and one of my little grandsons have a birthday this month and of course there is Mother's Day too.

There is something magical and romantic about May. It's a time to dream! As you can see, Breena, my little fairy friend, is doing just that in my potted rose.

So, please, do come in and make yourself at home. As promised, today I would like to share a sweet little tea cup which my hubby gifted me with for Easter.

This adorable tea cup is vintage and it is made by Royal Albert. It is post-1945 and that's about all I know about it. The roses are handpainted in pink and the leaves are green. The edges are slightly scalloped and sponged in gold. The handle has been handpainted with gold trim and the cup has a footed base which is also trimmed in gold. I can't find any information on it. I only know that Hubby got it at an antique/gift shop. The markings are hard to make out and the number, I think, is 2618 with a 3 below that. If any one knows the pattern of this teacup I would appreciate you letting me know!

I love the pink posies and sponged on gold! It is such a pretty shape too.

Very dainty!

Do you ever get a hankering for something? Besides tea cups, I mean.

Well, I got a hankering for Bread Pudding! So I whipped up a concoction of cinnamon dusted bread cubes and plump raisins, then drizzled a rich custard over it. A wee sprinkle of nutmeg and popped it in the oven. While it was in the oven, I made a sauce to go over it. Yum!
If you would like the recipe, I have posted it on my Christmas Pudding blog just this morning. http://christmaspudding09.blogspot.com/

WARNING: This pudding will go straight to your hips!

Would you like to try some with your tea?

The tea is steeping and I have set out another teacup for you.

Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things. ~ Chaim Potok

Ah, tea ~ A hug in a cup! The newest issue of Victoria is out and I love the blue and yellows on the cover!

Such a fresh combination; very springtime! Most of my married life I have had blue in my home but I've never had blue and white china. Curious, isn't it? It's not that I don't like it. I love it, in fact! Somehow or other, I've taken to the reds and pinks more. Must come from being surrounded by men most of my life. A husband and three boys call for mainly blue in a colour scheme.

I just love the lacey pottery they share on pages 70-73. Maggie Weldon preserves priceless memories with delicate lace imprints of antique lace. Like footprints in wet sand, her pottery always tells a story. They really are beautiful!

{My next door neighbor used to have a kiln set up in her garage. Pity she no longer has it!}

This issue is so lovely, filled with gardens, laces, and lovely sentiments. Victoria really does appeal to my feminine nature!

Do you like lace? Lace adorns most of the windows in my home. I like to use it on tables and in little unexpected places too. I know some think it's somewhat grannyish but I cannot get enough of it myself! If you are a romantic then you must love lace! The little square of lace peeking out of my new tea cup was a gift from a friend who knows my appreciation for it.

Where there is faith; there is love
Where there is love; there is peace,
Where there is peace; there is God,
Where there is God; there is Bliss.

Next week will be my Mother's Day Tea. I hope you will join me then. Wishing you all a lovely day!

If you are participating in Tea Time Tuesday, please be sure to link back to me so that your friends may find their way here and visit all my wonderful participants. Thank you. Don't be shy about sharing your tea things! It could be a favourite coffee mug or even an antique tea spoon. I would love to see them! If you would like to do coffee, iced tea, hot chocolate, or hot apple cider, instead of tea, that's all right too.

NOTE: Saturday, May 7th, my friend Bernideen of Bernideen's Tea Time Blog ~ http://bernideensteatimeblog.blogspot.com/  is hosting a new tea party out in the garden. I hope you will check it out.
