2nd Time Around Tuesday

Happy Tuesday everyone~
Today I thought I would participate in Diane @ A Picture is Worth A 1,000 Words for her 2nd Time Around Tuesday. http://diane1876.blogspot.com/
{I have been having trouble all day linking into Diane's blog so please forgive me ladies if I'm very late making my rounds!}

She would like to see the treasures that have been passed down to you or that you've bought at an estate sale or thrift store and see what you have done with them to bring them new life.

One day I was on the look out for a cabinet for my stereo system. But I didn't want anything too big or too modern looking. I also wanted something with a little bit of character, without paying too much for it at the same time.

So a friend and I went into a second hand store and found this dark cheap-looking cabinet. The salesman was asking $65 for it but I got it for $35. It was not very pretty to start with and I'm sorry I don't have the before pictures but I do have a shot of the colour it was before hand. Ugly!
I sanded it down, primed it, and put two coats of white paint on it. Then I distressed it. It was a fairly big job because of all the angles and slots but I got her done!
I am pleased with the way it turned out and it fits into the room rather nicely. It holds all my stereo equipment and music, and it's also a nice place to display some of my other treasures!

Thanks for stopping by. Now please go on over to Diane's and take a look at what all the other participants are offering today. And have a wonderful day everyone!

Blue Monday

Thank you Sally for hosting Blue Monday!

We have been really busy the past couple of weeks and I hadn't a clue what to share with you today, but I went looking through some pictures I had taken over the past week and voila! This is what I came up with!
This little ginger jar is a gift my Auntie P brought back for me from her trip to Florida. It is a lovely shade of blue and cream and adorned with sweet little forget-me-nots. Isn't it adorable? My auntie, Uncle Doug, and his cousin Eric from Scotland, were over for a visit last week.
These lupins are all along the highway of the North Shore. We were on our way to the beach Saturday and stopped to take some pictures. The lupins were so vibrant and blue; well, purple actually. But in the world of gardening, it is considered 'blue.' Once we arrived at the beach, we set up our chairs and other beachy stuff. This is my blue beach towel.
My blue water bottle.
My blue flip-flops. A blue umbrella. The sandhills are off in the distance....a blue horizon. The water was lovely!

It was a lovely day to take a stroll; which we did! We always hate to leave!
It was a nice day to be on the beach. Can't wait to get back! Now go pay a visit to our hostess Sally and see what other blues all the other participants are sharing today. Click here http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ or on the Blue Monday button on my sidebar and have a super day everyone!

Spiritual Sundays

Welcome to Spiritual Sundays where we gather every week to share stories of our faith. We all love the Lord here and are not ashamed to proclaim it! I want to thank Charlotte & Ginger for their efforts behind the scenes and for making this event possible every week. Bless you, ladies!

A couple of years ago I had written a short devotional for the church bulletin and it revolved around the wedding of a pastor's daughter who had just gotten married. I would like to share it with you today......
A CELEBRATION
Everyone enjoys a celebration! A few days ago, we were delighted to have witnessed a beautiful Christian wedding. Everyone was there to celebrate the marriage of the lovely young couple whom we have come to know and love. The church was beautifully decorated and the air was thick with the anticipation of what was to come.
As the bride entered the sanctuary, she was radiant, with tears of joy upon her cheeks. She did indeed, look every inch, a princess! While all eyes were focused on the bride, she made her way toward her beloved.
I couldn't help but also watch the face of the bridegroom. Truly, this young couple was very much in love and couldn't wait to begin their new life together.
It was an awesome and endearing sight!
But before this special day arrived, there were many preparations to be made. The bride had been very busy for months; meticulously planning for her wedding day. She had a list, which she had referred to; nothing was forgotten nor was any detail over looked. When her special day arrived, she was ready, and everything was perfect......
In my mind's eye, this lovely scene reminded me of the future, when the Bridegroom, our Lord Jesus, will come for us, His Bride.
We also, are to make ourselves ready for His coming. We are privileged to have the Word of God, the Bible, to refer to. Our walk, our talk, the places we frequent, are all supposed to glorify our Lord. Do our faces, our very lives, reveal to the world that we are pledged to our Beloved, and that we are expecting Him soon? Are we looking forward to His coming?
Just as the bride prepared herself so carefully for her bridegroom, let us likewise, prepare ourselves for our Lord Jesus.
His coming is imminent. Are you ready to meet Him?
"Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready. " REV. 19:7 {NIV}

Pink Saturday

Pink Saturday is here and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone is offering today!

Myself? Well, let's see now......
Roses cut from my rose bushes send the most delightful fragrance through the room and lend a romantic touch to the dinner table.I have to get a shot of the little pink rose buds too!
A pink-coral begonia on the back step.
Now, what have we here? Well, they are flowers....and they are pink!
......This little piggy went to market, and this little piggy stayed home......
This little piggy has been staying in our home for about 35 years.
We usually fill her up with pennies and a few odd nickels and dimes, for a couple of years, then we dump her out. This piggy's name is Charity and right now she weighs 16.5 pounds. The money we get from Charity, we use to treat someone to dinner or give the money to a worthy cause. What do you use your piggy bank for?
Now make your way over to Beverly's and see what all the other Pinkies are offering today. Click on the link http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ or the Pink Saturday button on my sidebar. Have a great Pink Day everyone!

Rednesday Blog Party

Hello everyone ~ Today I am taking part in Sue's REDNESDAY. I have a little red around my home so I thought it would be fun to participate in her fun event. You can join the fun too by clicking on the link and going to Sue's blog "My Secret Garden" http://suelovescherries.blogspot.com/
This punch bowl set was a Christmas gift from my brother when I was first married. I had started collecting different pieces of this ruby glass and he added to it with his special gift. I was thrilled to receive it, you can be sure!

This lovely red-rimmed punch bowl comes with twelve red-rimmed cups and a ladle. It has entertained at showers, weddings, and lots of different events over the years. It is always a joy to fill it with a special punch and serve my guests.
As far as I know they don't make this glass any more so I'm so very glad to have the pieces I have. I'll share other pieces another day.
That's my offering for today. Please go on over and visit Sue and all her other participants, and have a happy day everyone!

My Roses Are Blooming!

Happy Tuesday to you all ~ We are having some wet weather the last couple of days but the gardens need it. I can tell June is here, not because of the warm weather but because that is when my roses start to bloom! I took these pictures on the weekend before the rain came. These roses smell like those Yankee candles you buy in the shops. I can't get enough of this scent. It is heavenly!
Today, one of the bushes is just loaded with these gorgeous blooms so I skipped out between rain showers and snipped some for the kitchen table. They send a romantic fragrance throughout the room almost as strong as lilacs do. These roses are much like the variety that grow all along the shores of the Island and they conjure up all kinds of wonderful memories from my childhood. My father used to take us camping at the beach in the summertime and even then, I loved to stop and smell the roses. What kind of memories do roses bring to your heart?
Have a lovely and rose-scented day everyone!

Blue Monday

It's time for Blue Monday and I thought I would show you all some pictures I took at the beach the other day!
This is the shore as we're driving along the high-way. Isn't the blue spectacular?

Off in the distance, we see one of our many light houses.....We're getting closer.....a peaceful beacon, beckoning and guiding the boys home.....

Up close...... I love light houses, don't you?
There is nothing more beautiful than the blue of where the sky meets the water! {Unless it's the eyes of your loved one!}
Taking a stroll along the sand bar. This is Covehead Harbour, where there are quaint little restaurants, and one can go out deep-sea fishing.
And this is just one of the many red cliffs on the Island....Our Island is well known for its red soil..... Another sand bar is in the foreground.

I'll have more pictures another day. The beaches we have here are the finest you will find in all of Canada; at least we think so! Since we are completely surrounded by water, we have beaches all around us and we feel very blessed to have them. You don't have to go very far, to go sailing, swimming, or a picnic on the beach. It's all here for the enjoyment! Prince Edward Island; the Cradle of Confederation, and home of Anne of Green Gables; the tourists love it here and so do we!
Please join Sally and all the other Blue Monday participants by clicking the link http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ or the Blue Monday button on my sidebar. Enjoy your day everyone!
